Appx. 1 hour from Tokyo, Kamakura lies in a coastal town in Kanagawa prefecture. Kamakura became the political center of Japan and is currently a very popular tourist destination. It's also known as "Kyoto of Eastern Japan". Kamakura offers numerous temples, shrines and other historical monuments. Kamakura is a must-see destination and you can't deny when it's going for less than $100!

Tour Highlights :
Local train "Yokosuka Line" to Kamakura. Board a local train on "Yokosuka Line"(approx. 55 min.) to Kamakura.
"Eno-den" line

Take a train on Eno-den" line to Hase.

Hase Kannon Temple

Proceed to Hase Kannon Temple with its gilt statue of Kannon, from which a view of the town and the Pacific Ocean is obtained.

The Great Buddha Then visit the Great Buddha, a bronze image measuring 11.4 meters in height at Kotokuin Temple.
Lunch at local restaurant

Enjoy Japanese-style lunch at local restaurant.

Take a train on Eno-den" line to Kamakura.

Take a "Rickshaw" (traditional man-pulled carriage) to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine.

The second and third torii (gate to the shrine)

Walk through the Wakamiya-Oji , the approach to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine.
After passing through the red second torii gate , a comfortable clay walkway continues to the third torii .

Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine The features of Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, the symbol of the first Shogun Minamoto, are the arched bridge, the Genji and Heike ponds, the huge gingko tree, and the colorful Main Hall standing at the top of 62 stone steps.
Komachi Shopping Street Walk back to Kamakura Station via Komachi Shopping Street with some art and craft shops. Enjoy a Japanese-style green tea with refreshment.
Local train " Yokosuka Line"to Tokyo Take a local train on "Yokosuka Line" (approx. 55 min.) for Tokyo.
 
Remarks:
Tour disbands on arrival at Tokyo Station between 17:00-17:30. Participants will return to their hotel or elsewhere on their own.Infomation on return transportation will be provided by the tour guide.

Since this is a walking tour, participants are advised to wear light clothes and comfortable shoes.Only non-reserved seats are available on the trains used.

Depends on trafic conditions, motorcoach may be used instead of local train for transfer between Kamakura and Tokyo.
